As a passionate advocate for the importance of reading and writing for pleasure, Kate loves working with children and is available for school visits to Early Years and Key Stage 1 Primary School Year Groups. She holds a current basic DBS Certificate.

Kate's visits are full of energy and interaction, and include an introduction to life as an author with lots of encouragement for children to try out their 'author superpower', a superhero action-packed song, a picture book reading, a superhero or bravery themed activity, a Q&A session and book signing. Each child is given a signed postcard to take home.

Visits can be tailored to fit with ongoing superhero or PSHE topics at school and adjusted to meet the particular needs of the classes in question.

Prices for in-person events are as follows:

Full day: Workshops, assembly and book signing - £350 plus travel expenses (via public transport)

Half day: Morning or afternoon of workshops, assembly and book signing £200 plus travel expenses (via public transport)

Kate is based in West Sussex, but is happy to travel.

Testimonials

Kenya class loved having Kate in to visit.  She was fully engaging throughout and interacted brilliantly with the children.

The children loved her book and some even went home to do some of their own story writing as a result.

It was lovely to hear Kate telling the children how old she was when she started writing to - hopefully this has helped them to realise their own potential.

Kate inspired our year 2 children to create their own super hero story. Her main message to the children was not be afraid of the mechanics of writing (spelling and grammar) but concentrate on the message you want to give. Be your own illustrators and be creative. Her energy and enthusiasm for writing was infectious.
