I love working with children and am available for school visits to Key Stage 1 Primary School Year Groups.
What Can I Do?
I can do a 30 minute session in classrooms with my book Superheroes Don't Get Scared...Or Do They? which explores the themes of fear and what it means to be 'brave', while also fitting in well with any superhero topics at school.
I talk briefly about what it's like to be an author, and share my writing journey (including pictures of my first ever picture book written at 6yrs old) . This is followed by story-time (with interaction encouraged!) and a class activity to fill a Class Bravery Cup. There is plenty of time for verbal input and questions, big and small!
I am happy to create longer sessions by adding on additional activities, such as a Design Your Own Superhero drawing activity and a superhero-themed craft.
Please get in touch via the contact page for more information and to discuss requirements.
Testimonials
Kenya class loved having Kate in to visit. She was fully engaging throughout and interacted brilliantly with the children.
The children loved her book and some even went home to do some of their own story writing as a result.
It was lovely to hear Kate telling the children how old she was when she started writing to - hopefully this has helped them to realise their own potential.
Kate inspired our year 2 children to create their own super hero story. Her main message to the children was not be afraid of the mechanics of writing (spelling and grammar) but concentrate on the message you want to give. Be your own illustrators and be creative. Her energy and enthusiasm for writing was infectious.
