Double Competition Shortlisting!

I was thrilled to find out today that TWO of my unpublished picture book texts have been shortlisted in a Picture Book Competition!

As I've previously mentioned, I love entering writing competitions. They provide a set deadline to write new stories, or simply give existing stories an extra special shiny edit. Additionally, they provide unagented authors, like me, the opportunity to gain extra writing achievements to potentially, maybe, catch the eye of a literary agent one day!

This particular competition is being run by the Virtual Writers' Weekend and judged by The Bright Agency.  Entrants were invited to submit a text of no more than 600 words in prose or verse for children aged 3-6. I entered with no expectation of any results, so am over the moon to discover that two of my picture book texts, Maya's Mistake and Sparkles Ahoy! have been placed into the final shortlist of six texts! Happy days!
